Pedestrian run over by dumper in Mulund, driver booked

Mumbai, Jan 11: A 37-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a dumper in Mumbai’s Mulund area on Saturday, police officials said.

The victim, identified as Suresh Babu Jagtap, a resident of Khindi Pada in Bhandup, was walking along the road when the heavy vehicle allegedly struck him. Jagtap sustained serious injuries in the collision and was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police identified the dumper driver as Brijesh Somnath Yadav. The Mulund police have registered a case against him for rash and negligent driving and for failing to provide assistance to the victim after the accident.

An FIR has been filed under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 134(A)(B) and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The dumper involved in the incident has been seized, and further investigation is in progress, police added.
