Mangaluru, Jan 14: For the first time in the history of the diocese of Mangalore, the St Anthony Devotion Trust, Jeppu, is organising ‘Ga Thu Jibe’ (Sing, O Tongue), a diocesan-level grand Konkani Group Singing Competition dedicated exclusively to the hymns of St Anthony of Padua. The event is scheduled for Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu.

Choirs and groups from various parishes, religious houses, and educational institutions across the diocese will congregate at Jeppu to perform. The competition will feature a mix of traditional devotional hymns and original compositions, promising an evening of high-quality choral harmony.

The competition will commence at 3:15 pm. The grand finale, including the valedictory and prize distribution ceremony, will be held at 6:45 pm.

Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore, will grace the occasion as the president of the ceremony and will distribute the awards to the winners.
