Mangaluru, Jan 18: Mount Carmel Central School, witnessed an emotionally charged and memorable moments as it bid adieu to the outgoing students of grades X and XII. The farewell celebrations were imbued with gratitude, reflection, and hope, marking the culmination of a significant chapter in the students’ lives.
The farewell programme was thoughtfully organised on Saturday, January 17 by the students of grade IX and XI. The outgoing students were accorded a warm and affectionate welcome as they entered the auditorium, setting a graceful tone for the formal programme that commenced with the invocation of the Divine.












































A vibrant welcome dance by the grade IX students brought colour and joy to the occasion, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Cheryl Tauro and Poorna Adarsh of grade XI. In a solemn and symbolic gesture, principal, administrator, vice principal together with teacher and student representatives of grade X and XII, lit the ceremonial lamp, symbolising the light of knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment.
Led by the principal, Sr Melissa, the outgoing students, holding lighted lamps in their hands, took a solemn oath, pledging to remain faithful to the values and ideals instilled by their alma mater. A beautifully curated PowerPoint presentation followed, capturing cherished memories and significant milestones from the students’ journey at Mount Carmel Central School.
Rochelle Marie Lobo, grade X C, Nishant Kirodiwal, grade X E, and head girl Karen Lobo, grade XII, shared their heartfelt appreciations, expressing deep gratitude for the unwavering guidance and encouragement received from the principal, teachers and the school. The vote of thanks was delivered by the head boy, Kevin Kushalappa, grade X E. The programme was gracefully compered by Royner Cutinho and Aditi, ensuring a seamless flow of events.
Addressing the gathering, the administrator, Sr Carissima, inspired the students to carry forward the core values of their alma mater wherever life may lead them. She reminded them to cherish and wisely utilise the two most precious gifts, time and health.
Drawing a powerful analogy of the eagle that spreads its wings and soars high even amidst storms, principal Sr Melissa encouraged the students to face life’s challenges with courage, perseverance and firm faith in the Almighty. She urged them to remain true to the school motto, inspiring them to soar higher and higher in life, while staying firmly grounded in the values instilled during their years at Mount Carmel.
The farewell programme concluded with a fellowship meal, leaving behind a tapestry of treasured memories, heartfelt goodbyes, and a deep sense of pride as the students stepped forward to embrace a new chapter in their lives.
Prior to this day, on January 16, a Thanksgiving Mass was offered by the catholic students. During the Eucharistic celebration, Fr Jason Pinto SDB, exhorted the students to carry forward the values they had imbibed at school and to live them out meaningfully in their day-to-day lives. Invoking God’s abundant blessings, he prayed for their well-being, success, and guidance in the years ahead. Adding to the solemnity of the occasion, the students of grade X offered a heartfelt prayer of gratitude and rendered a thanksgiving hymn, expressing their thanks to God, their alma mater, the school management, teachers, and parents for their constant support and guidance. The students of grade VIII led the choir and prayerfully conducted the liturgy, adding to the solemnity and spiritual depth of the celebration.
