New Delhi, Jan 19: TVK chief and actor Vijay appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters here on Monday for the second round of questioning in connection with the Karur stampede case, officials said.

The actor arrived at the CBI office on Lodhi Road in a convoy of luxury SUVs earlier in the day. He is being questioned by a team of officers led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police from the Anti-Corruption branch of the agency.

Vijay was earlier questioned for over six hours on January 12. He was asked to appear again last Tuesday, but sought a deferment citing Pongal celebrations, officials added.

The CBI took over the investigation from a Special Investigation Team (SIT) following directions from the Supreme Court. The probe relates to the stampede that occurred on September 27, 2025, in Tamil Nadu’s Karur district, in which 41 people lost their lives and more than 60 others were injured.

The agency is currently collecting and examining evidence to ascertain responsibility and lapses that led to the tragedy.
