Tadkeshwar, Jan 20: Two officials were suspended on Tuesday after a newly constructed water tank collapsed during testing at Tadkeshwar village in the district, triggering concerns over construction quality and accountability.
According to Mandvi MLA Kuvarji Halpati, the company that built the structure will be blacklisted if it is found responsible for the collapse. “Strict action will be taken once the probe establishes fault,” he said.

The 15-metre-high water tank, with a capacity of nine lakh litres, was constructed at a cost of Rs 21 crore. It collapsed on Monday evening while undergoing testing, officials from the water supply department said.
Following the incident, Deputy Engineers Jay Chaudhari and Rajnikant were placed under suspension. MLA Halpati said an inquiry has been initiated to fix responsibility, adding that more officials could face suspension based on the probe’s findings.
Authorities said the investigation would examine construction quality, supervision lapses and compliance with safety norms before further action is taken.
