Hyderabad, Jan 26: A Zomato delivery executive was allegedly assaulted by staff members of a Pizza Hut outlet in Hyderabad following a dispute over a low customer rating, police said on Monday. The incident occurred on Sunday and was captured on the restaurant’s CCTV cameras.

According to the complaint filed by the delivery executive, the altercation began when he visited the outlet to collect an order. He was allegedly confronted by staff members who accused him of being responsible for a poor customer rating, claiming it had damaged the restaurant’s online reputation.

The delivery executive stated that he was first taunted and verbally abused by multiple employees before the argument escalated into violence. Eyewitnesses told police that the staff members allegedly assaulted him and dragged him to the ground. The entire incident was recorded on the outlet’s CCTV system.

In his statement, the delivery executive said he tried to clarify that customer ratings are given by users on the platform and are not controlled by delivery personnel. However, he alleged that the staff continued to threaten and physically assault him.

Based on the complaint, police have registered an FIR against the accused Pizza Hut employees under relevant sections for assault and intimidation. Officials said they are examining the CCTV footage and questioning those involved as part of the investigation.
