Udupi: Grand 77th Republic Day celebration held at St Cecily’s CBSE School

Udupi, Jan 27: St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE) celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm on the school campus.

The celebration began with a solemn prayer hymn rendered by the school choir, setting a reverent tone for the occasion. The flag hoisting ceremony was held in the school quadrangle.The chief guest of the event Umananda K V, an eminent Indian Army veteran and educationist from Manipal, unfurled the national flag.

Students representing the four houses presented a disciplined and impressive march past, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of the school band. Addressing the students, Umananda highlighted the importance of the Indian Constitution, describing it as the soul of the nation. He encouraged students to take responsibility in transforming India from a developing to a developed nation, emphasizing active participation in Swachh Bharat and the need to eliminate corruption. He also inspired students to consider serving the nation by joining the Indian Army.

Following the formal ceremony, an engaging cultural programme was held in the school auditorium, hosted by students of grades 4A and 4B. The programme featured patriotic songs, a musical skit, and vibrant dances. The highlight of the event was a dance performance portraying Unity in Diversity, which received loud applause from the audience. Each performance reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing patriotism and national pride among students, grooming them to become responsible citizens and torchbearers of a developed India.

The event was graced by several dignitaries including Sr Preethi Crasta AC, joint secretary of the school; heads of sister institutions Sr Mayola and Sr Sahaya Mary; vice principal Sr Preethi Saritha; superior of St Cecily’s Convent Sr Priya AC; and PTA vice president Shamil Quadros, along with parents and staff members.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Vrishank. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Gaurav Carvalho of grade IV.
