Udupi, Jan 30: As a mark of respect to those who have served and continue to serve the nation, the Ex-Servicemen Association will organise a special free screening of the film Border 2, which highlights the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The screening will be held on February 3 at 7 pm at Bharat Cinema, Time Square, Bharat Mall, Mangaluru. The show is exclusively free for all serving servicemen and ex-servicemen.

Subedar major (Retd) Ashok Kumar, a retired junior commissioned officer, said, “Ex-servicemen across the country have been continuously working for years to highlight the invaluable role played by the Indian Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation. I strongly believe that soldiers posted along our borders face extreme physical and emotional hardships while protecting the sovereignty of the country. Through ex-servicemen associations, we have always tried to bring these issues to the attention of society and policymakers so that the sacrifices and challenges of our soldiers are never forgotten."

Speaking about cinema as a medium, Ashok Kumar said, “The recently released film ‘Border 2’ powerfully portrays the realities of war and the hardships faced by Indian soldiers during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. “The movie clearly shows life at the borders, operational difficulties, emotional stress, and the unwavering commitment of soldiers during wartime. These scenes give civilians a deeper understanding of military operations and the coordination required during war situations."

He noted that the movie goes beyond battlefield action and brings attention to the long-term commitment, discipline, and sacrifices made not only by Army personnel but also by their families. Such films help civilians understand the true challenges faced by soldiers and build greater respect for the Armed Forces.

Concluding his statement, subedar major (Retd) Ashok Kumar said, “Border 2 is a powerful reminder of the Indian Army’s contribution to national security and nation-building. I urge citizens, especially the younger generation, to learn from the courage, discipline, and dedication displayed by our Armed Forces."
