Tikamgarh, Jan 31: A government school teacher in Madhya Pradesh’s Tikamgarh district has been arrested on charges of allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl, police said.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Thursday morning at a government school under the Palera police station limits. The victim, a Class I student, was allegedly misbehaved with by the teacher after she reached the school. After returning home, the girl informed her family about the incident.

Following this, family members along with villagers gathered at the Palera police station and demanded immediate action. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyay Sahita (BNS).

Confirming the arrest, Tikamgarh Additional Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh said that the accused teacher was immediately taken into custody and sent to jail. He added that further investigation into the matter is underway.
