New Delhi, Jan 31: Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari has lodged an official complaint with Delhi Police alleging that an unidentified person has created a fake Facebook profile in his name with the intention of damaging his reputation. Following the complaint, police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation.
In his complaint, Tiwari stated that the fake Facebook ID is being run as part of a conspiracy to tarnish his public image. He clarified that his authentic Facebook account carries a blue verification tick, clearly distinguishing it from the fake profile.

“I had already complained about this to the New Delhi district on January 22. Surprisingly, neither the operator of the fake ID has been traced nor arrested so far,” Tiwari said, urging police to take swift action and ensure strict punishment for those involved.
Acting on the complaint, Delhi Police registered a case against unknown persons and said efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused behind the impersonation.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Mumbai Police arrested a former domestic help of the BJP MP for allegedly stealing cash from his Andheri flat. The accused, Surendra Kumar Deenanath Sharma, was caught with duplicate keys and allegedly made off with a total of Rs 5.4 lakh in multiple thefts. Police said investigations in that case are also ongoing.
