Bantwal, Feb 1: Udayakumar C R, assistant professor in the department of social work at the Government First Grade College, Vamadapad in Bantwal taluk, has been awarded a PhD doctorate by Davanagere University for his outstanding research on urban labour issues.

Udayakumar’s dissertation, titled “A Study on Livelihood Vulnerability among Construction Labourers in Urban Karnataka”, was conducted under the guidance of Dr Lokesh M U, professor, department of social work, Davanagere University.

The study sheds light on the challenges and vulnerabilities faced by construction workers in urban Karnataka, reflecting Udayakumar’s commitment to social welfare research.

The dotorate was formally conferred by the Governor of Karnataka, Thawar Chand Gehlot, during the university convocation held on January 30.

A resident of Bantwal, Udayakumar is the son of H B Ramesh and Akkamma K B, and has been praised for his dedication to both academic excellence and community engagement.
