Bantwal: Senior advocate Ashwani Kumar Rai urges creation of women-centric social spaces

Bantwal, Feb 3: Senior advocate Ashwani Kumar Rai on Tuesday said that society must consciously create spaces and circumstances where women are able to experience happiness, dignity and fulfilment at every moment of their lives.

He was speaking after inaugurating and participating in the Women and Children’s Celebration organised at Sparsha Kalamandira, BC Road, under the joint aegis of the Vatsalyamayi Women Development and Research Institute and Jawahar Bal Manch, Mangaluru.

“Women should be provided with greater opportunities to actively engage in social life. Programmes such as these play a crucial role in empowering women and must be organised more frequently,” he said, underlining the importance of inclusive and women-centric social initiatives.

Former minister B Ramanath Rai, president of Atmashakti Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Chittaranjan Bolar, entrepreneurs Shailendra and Abbas Ali, Bood president Baby Kunder, and prominent personalities Pius L Rodrigues, Dr Shashikala R Somayaji, Sangeetha Sharma, Dr Samshad Kunjath Baile, Prabha Narayana Suvarna, State President of Jawahar Bal Manch Shaurya, Prakash Kervase, Krishna Suvarna, Balakrishna Anchan and Rajesh Poojary were present on the dais.

Founder of the Vatsalyamayi Women Development and Research Institute, Shailaja Rajesh, welcomed the gathering and presented the introductory address. The programme was compered by Yatheesh Poojary.

‘Girijaratna State Award Presented’

On the same occasion, the Vatsalyamayi Women Development and Research Institute conferred the prestigious Girijaratna State Award on anaesthesiologist Dr Shashikala R Somayaji, social worker Sujitha V Bangera, teacher Sangeetha Sharma, social worker Dr Samshad Kunjath Baile, and social worker Prabha Narayana Suvarna, in recognition of their dedicated service to society.

Various competitions for women and children were also organised as part of the celebration, adding vibrancy and enthusiasm to the event.
