Bantwal, Feb 5: Four persons sustained injuries after an auto rickshaw and a scooter collided near Kudrebetu on National Highway 75, close to Kalladka, on Wednesday.
The injured have been identified as auto rickshaw driver Nawaz Kabak, passengers Avvamma and Suhail, residents of Alakemajalu, and scooter rider Sanjeev, a resident of Neralakatte.
According to sources, the auto rickshaw was travelling from Mani towards Bantwal and was entering the main road at Kudrebetu when it allegedly collided with the scooter that was coming along the service road from the Kalladka side and attempting to cross the highway.

It is learnt that Avvamma was being taken to Bantwal hospital due to illness at the time of the accident. She sustained serious injuries in the collision and has been shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment.
The other injured persons were admitted to Thumbe hospital and Bantwal government hospital.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal traffic police station, and further investigation is underway.
