Kadaba, Feb 5: A massive fire broke out at the grassland of the Animal Husbandry Department’s Koide KC Farm in Kadaba taluk on Wednesday, causing extensive damage and heavy losses.

The fire reportedly originated near the Koide gate in the afternoon and rapidly spread across the vast grassland due to dry conditions. The blaze engulfed nearly 100 acres of grassland, stretching from Koide to Gandi Bagilu, Anegundi, and areas behind the department office.

Several varieties of trees and plants were also destroyed in the fire, resulting in significant ecological and financial loss to the department.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Efforts were made to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.
