Puttur: KSRTC bus tyre catches fire near Haradi railway overbridge; passengers safe

Puttur, Feb 5: Panic prevailed for a brief while after a KSRTC bus travelling from Uppinangady to Puttur caught fire near the Haradi railway overbridge on the Puttur–Uppinangady road on Wednesday afternoon.

According to sources, fire was noticed inside the rear tyre of the bus, following which thick smoke billowed out, creating an alarming situation for passengers onboard. The driver promptly halted the vehicle and ensured that all passengers were safely evacuated.

The passengers later proceeded towards their destinations using other buses and private vehicles.

The fire, which originated from the rear tyre section, was brought under control after water was poured on it. No injuries were reported in the incident.
