Moodbidri: Fire breaks out in coconut grove near Mahaveer College, extensive damage reported

Moodbidri, Feb 6: A fire broke out at a coconut grove in the limits of Keerthinagar Fifth Cross Road near Sri Mahaveer College here on Thursday evening, causing extensive damage to trees and plantation property.

On receiving information, personnel from the fire and emergency services rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations. Several trees and plants were completely gutted in the blaze, while the fire also spread to an adjacent coconut grove, damaging a large portion of the plantation.

Fire personnel continued operations well into the night and managed to bring the fire under control after sustained efforts. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
