Journalist Beaten Allegedly by Trinamool Supporters

Kolkata, Feb 28 (IANS): A journalist of a leading Bengali News Channel Tuesday alleged he was beaten up in Jadavpur area of Kolkata by supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress.

Partha Pratim Ghosh said he was beaten up when he tried to capture on video the ransacking of a CPI-M (Communist Party of India-Marxist) local party office.

"When I visited the spot, Trinamool supporters told me not to take the video footage. Then all of a sudden some of the Trinamool supporters started abusing. I pleaded but they kept on beating me," said Ghosh.

City Police Joint Commissioner (Headquarters) Jawed Shamim said they will investigate the matter.

"I am aware of the incident. Let him file the complaint. We will investigate the matter," Shamim told IANS.
