Guna, Feb 8: A chilling video allegedly filmed inside the Chachoda Sub-Jail in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district has gone viral on social media, triggering outrage and raising serious questions over custodial violence and jail security.
The footage shows a sub-jailer brutally assaulting a prisoner with a stick while the inmate is tied to a tree within the jail premises. The video is reportedly around six months old and has only now surfaced, intensifying concerns over alleged human rights violations behind bars.

Sources claim that the sub-jailer, seen in the video, had been facing repeated complaints from inmates, with allegations of routinely demanding money and illegally extorting prisoners’ families in exchange for basic facilities inside the jail.
When an NDTV team visited the Chachoda Sub-Jail to verify the situation on the ground, officials maintained silence and avoided answering questions. The sub-jailer in question was found to be absent from duty and is reportedly on leave for the past three to four days.
Confirming the development, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ravi Malviya said he came to know about the video three days ago through media reports. “The footage has been forwarded to senior authorities to verify its authenticity and timeline. Strict disciplinary action will be taken once the investigation report is received,” he stated.
Apart from the alleged brutality, the incident has also raised serious concerns about jail security. Authorities are now probing how a mobile phone entered the high-security jail area, who recorded the video, and why it remained concealed for several months.
The district administration has launched a parallel inquiry to trace the source of the footage and identify possible lapses in jail security, even as calls grow louder for accountability and swift action.
