Mangaluru: Parish feast of Infant Mary Church celebrated with devotion & grandeur

Mangaluru, Feb 9: The parish feast of Infant Mary church, Bajjodi, was celebrated in a very solemn manner on Sunday, February 8. All the people gathered together at OSS convent. A small prayer service was held blessing the statue of Infant Mary. Then with band a grand procession was taken to the church.

In church all the donours were felicitated with blessed candles. A solemn Eucharistic celebration was held with Dr Praveen Leo Lasrado, secretary, diocesan Catholic board of education, as the main celebrant.

In his homily he explained how the parents have to educate and bring up their children. We should love them but don’t pamper them. When needed we should correct them lovingly. On the other hand, the children should respect and obey their parents. They should look after them in their old age.

If they do, they will obtain abundant graces and blessings from the Lord. 20 priest participated in the celebration and hundreds of people. In the end those who contributed towards the feast celebration were honoured.

The Holy Eucharist was followed with a Fency fete with varied stalls, games and food items.

In the evening a cultural programme was organised with Anil Lobo, chairman of MCC bank, Melwyn Lasrado, director, Minority Nigama, Bangaluru, were the chief guests. Many dances, skits and song were enacted. Many gurkars, Pratinidhis who rendered their services during the past years were thanked and honoured.

Likewise those who had great achievements to their credit were honoured. The past vice president Prakash Saldhana and secretary Elizabeth Pereira who had rendered their yeomen services to our parish were appreciated and honoured.

The whole day was a great tribute and honour to Infant Mary, the patroness of the church.
