Beltangady: Attempt to abduct college student; accused on the run

Beltangady, Feb 9: An attempt to abduct a minor college student was reported in Beltangady, where three unidentified men allegedly tried to kidnap the girl and attacked her with a knife before fleeing.

The incident occurred on the morning of February 9 at around 8.30 am. The victim, a first-year PUC student and a resident of Sudemugeru in Beltangady town, was riding her scooter towards Santekatte to catch a bus to college. At that time, three miscreants arrived in a car with its number plate covered with cloth and allegedly blocked her scooter before attempting to forcibly drag her into the vehicle.

The girl raised an alarm and resisted strongly, managing to escape. Noticing another scooter approaching from behind, the miscreants allegedly stabbed the girl on her hand and fingers with a knife and fled the scene in the car.

The injured student was admitted to the Beltangady taluk government hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. Beltangady police visited the hospital, recorded her statement and have intensified the investigation.
