Mangaluru, Feb 9: Mangaluru Taluk Sound and Light Owners Association donated 60 fans worth approximately Rs 1.5 lac to De Mercede Orphanage in Deralakatte on Monday, February 9. During the occasion, the birthdays of nearly 100 children were also celebrated by cutting a cake.
Speaking on the occasion, Lucy Pinto, district Rajyotsava awardee and sister at the orphanage, noted that the children were facing difficulties due to the heat. She stated that the fans provided by the association would bring relief and thanked the members for celebrating the children's birthdays with sweets. She wished the association success in their future service activities.




Association president Bennet D'Silva said that besides providing 60 fans, the association also organized a meal for the children to mark the birthday celebrations. He lauded the cooperation of the association members and executive committee in arranging the event for the children.
Sister Lydia of De Mercede Orphanage narrated an incident from the life of a Muslim woman while encouraging the children to grow up and become guiding lights for others in society.
The children participated in various cultural activities. The association president also conducted a quiz and other recreational programs for the children.
Association vice-president Mahesh Bolar, Vinod Kumpala, members Arun Noronha, Sandeep D'Silva, Sandeep Ullal, Rajesh, Maxim, Ravi, Vijith, Ranjan, Yashpal, Ganesh A, and staff members Flavia, Trizza, Renita, and Sunita were present.
Richelle compered the program while Rakshitha proposed the vote of thanks.
