San Francisco, Feb 10: Two-time NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry will miss Sunday’s annual All-Star showcase due to an ongoing injury to his right knee, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr confirmed on Monday.
Kerr announced the development ahead of the Warriors’ game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Curry will also miss the clash against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, marking his fourth and fifth consecutive games on the sidelines.

The Warriors star is suffering from patellofemoral pain syndrome, commonly referred to as runner’s knee. The team remains hopeful that Curry will return to action after the All-Star break, when Golden State host the Boston Celtics on February 19.
“It’s a matter of learning as I go what works rehab-wise,” Curry told ESPN. “Because it’s still painful. You have to try to get rid of all the inflammation and pain. It’s something we still have to monitor and injury-manage, but if I come back too early, it could flare up.”
Curry has missed 14 games so far this season but continues to average 27.2 points per game, the fifth-highest scoring average of his 17-year NBA career. He last featured on January 30, when he exited a home game against the Detroit Pistons.
Curry joins Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is sidelined with an abdominal injury, among All-Stars ruled out of Sunday’s game in Los Angeles. Gilgeous-Alexander has been replaced on Team World by Houston Rockets centre Alperen Sengun. The NBA is yet to announce a replacement for Curry on Team USA.
