Kundapur, Feb 12: Senior writer, theatre personality and retired lecturer Koni Shivananda Karanth Gujjadi (80) passed away on February 11, leaving behind a rich legacy in literature, theatre and education.
Family sources said that his mortal remains were kept at his residence on B B Road in Kundapur to enable the public to pay their last respects. Subsequently, the body was shifted to his residence at Gujjadi, where public viewing was arranged.

He is survived by his wife and daughter.
Born on August 30, 1946, at Koni near Kundapur, Shivananda Karanth dedicated several decades to the fields of literature and education. He retired as an Economics lecturer from S V Pre-University College, Gangolli.
A prolific writer and columnist, he had published more than ten books. He was also actively involved in theatre, contributing as an actor and director, and had presented programmes on All India Radio. He had earlier served as the president of the Kundapur Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana.
Beyond his literary contributions, Karanth was known for his active participation in social and cultural activities in the region.
MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, Kundapur MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi and Kannada Sahitya Parishat district president Neelavara Surendra Adiga have expressed heartfelt condolences over his demise.
