Beltangady, Feb 12: Fr Vijay Lobo, principal of Anugraha Pre-University College, Ujire, has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree by PRIST University, Thanjavur.
He received the doctoral degree for his thesis titled 'The potential effects of theaflavin and its derivative on oral cancer: In vitro and in vivo studies'. His research focused on exploring the therapeutic potential of theaflavin compounds in the treatment of oral cancer through both laboratory-based (in vitro) and animal-based (in vivo) studies.
Fr Vijay Lobo carried out his research under the guidance of Dr Bhakrudeen Ali Ahmed, professor, department of biochemistry, PRIST University, Thanjavur.
A priest of the diocese of Mangalore, Fr Lobo is well known in the field of education for his dedicated service. Prior to his current role at Anugraha PU College, Ujire, he served as the principal of Milagres PU College, Kallianpur, and St Philomena PU College, Puttur.
Colleagues and well-wishers have congratulated Fr Lobo on his academic achievement and contribution to cancer research.
