Adani Foundation inaugurates newly furnished Palimar GP office worth Rs 20 lac

Udupi, Feb 13: Adani Power Limited – Udupi Thermal Power Plant, through its CSR wing, Adani Foundation, inaugurated the newly furnished office of Palimar gram panchayat (GP), executed under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme at a total project cost of Rs 20 lac.

The inauguration of the upgraded office infrastructure and newly installed furniture and fixtures was jointly carried out by Kishore Alva, executive director & president, Adani Group, and Soumyalatha Shetty, president, Palimar gram panchayat, in the presence of elected representatives, officials and members of the local community.

Speaking on the occasion, Kishore Alva informed that the project was implemented by Adani Foundation in line with the Annual Action Plan for the year 2025–26 submitted by Palimar gram panchayat. He stated that Adani Power Limited – Udupi Thermal Power Plant is continuously supporting infrastructure development works in the surrounding seven gram panchayats, based on the priorities identified by the respective panchayats, in addition to implementing several community development initiatives in the fields of education, health and promotion of rural sports.

Highlighting the long-term engagement of Adani Power Limited with the Palimar village, Alva further informed that the company has spent nearly Rs 1.80 cr exclusively for Palimar gram panchayat towards community infrastructure development works over the years. Welcoming the decision of the panchayat to utilise CSR grants for the upgradation of its office infrastructure, he said that strengthening grassroots governance institutions is critical for improving service delivery and citizen satisfaction. He added that the modernised panchayat office will facilitate quicker processing of applications, better coordination among staff and more effective handling of public grievances, thereby enabling timely and transparent delivery of services to the villagers.

The newly refurbished Palimar gram panchayat office has been equipped with modern and ergonomic furniture, improved workstations, organised storage and record-keeping systems and citizen-friendly service counters. The upgraded layout is designed to ensure smoother public movement within the office, reduce congestion during peak hours and create a professional and efficient working environment for the staff. The improved infrastructure will also support digital governance initiatives, online service delivery and more systematic monitoring of development schemes, thereby strengthening administrative efficiency at the village level.

Expressing her gratitude to Adani Foundation for the continued CSR support, Soumyalatha Shetty, president, Palimar gram panchayat, stated that a long-pending demand of all the members of the panchayat has been fulfilled through the CSR assistance of Adani Foundation. She added that the new refurbishment works will significantly improve the quality of functioning of the Panchayat and enable the staff to serve the villagers in a more organised and efficient manner.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Rayeshwar Pai, vice-president, Palimar gram panchayat; Gayathri Prabhu, member and past president; Praveen Kumar, Shivaram Poojary, Yogananda Kukyan and Sujatha, members of Palimar gram panchayat; Sunil, village accountant; and Kalyani, office staff, along with Ravi R Jere, associate general manager, Adani Power Limited, and Anudeep from Adani Foundation.
