Mangaluru: Three arrested for drug consumption

Mangaluru, Feb 14: The city police have arrested three individuals on charges of consuming prohibited narcotic substances in separate operations.

The arrests were made following targeted surveillance to curb the rising drug menace in the city. According to police sources, the accused were apprehended after being found in suspicious circumstances. Subsequent medical examinations confirmed the presence of drugs in their systems.

The city police have been consistently conducting drives against drug peddling and consumption under the 'Drug-Free Mangaluru' initiative. Officials stated that strict action will be taken against those found involved in the sale or consumption of synthetic drugs like MDMA and ganja.

Cases have been registered at the respective police stations under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigations are underway to trace the sources from which the accused procured the drugs.
