Manipur: Three militants of KCP (Apunba), PREPAK arrested; arms, IEDs seized

Imphal, Feb 14: Security forces arrested three militants belonging to two proscribed outfits in Manipur during coordinated operations carried out on Friday, police said on Saturday.

According to a police statement, two active cadres of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Apunba) were apprehended from Imphal West and Imphal East districts. In a separate operation, one member of the outlawed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) was arrested from his residence at Moirang Khunou in Bishnupur district.

The arrested individuals were allegedly involved in unlawful activities in the state, police sources said, adding that further investigation is underway to ascertain their links and network.

Meanwhile, during a search operation in the Khulsaibung hill range under Tengnoupal district, security personnel recovered a cache of arms and explosives. The seized items included a single-barrel gun, two pistols and eight improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Police stated that intensified combing and search operations are being conducted across vulnerable areas to curb insurgent activities and ensure public safety.
