Holy Family Church, Omzoor celebrates Catechism Day with devotion and cultural fervour

Mangaluru, Feb 15: The Catechism Day was celebrated with great devotion and joy on February 15 at Holy Family Church, Omzoor. The celebration commenced with a solemn Eucharistic Mass led by the catechism students. Fr Victor D’Souza, resident priest, was the main celebrant. In his homily, he emphasised the importance of faith formation among children and encouraged parents and teachers to guide them in Christian values.

Following the holy Mass, a vibrant cultural programme was held in the church hall. Students from class I to PUC presented a variety of performances, showcasing their talents and reflecting Christian values through songs, dances, skits, and meaningful messages.

A prize distribution ceremony was conducted to honour students for their regular attendance and for securing the highest marks in the catechism examinations. The winners were appreciated and motivated to continue their dedication to learning and living their faith.

The celebration was graced by Fr William Menezes, parish priest; Fr Victor D’Souza, resident priest; Sr Luciana Fernandes, superior of St Charles Borromeo Convent; Arthur D’Souza, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council; Daffney Lewis, secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council; and Elroy Saldanha, coordinator of the Pastoral Commission. Their esteemed presence encouraged and inspired the young participants.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. The day ended on a joyful note, with a renewed commitment to nurturing faith among children and youth.
