Two Bangladeshi women sentenced for illegal stay in Thane

Thane, Feb 20: A Thane Sessions Court has convicted two Bangladeshi nationals for illegally entering and residing in India, sentencing them to one year and two months of simple imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs 1,000 each.

The verdict, delivered by R M Rathod, Ad-hoc Sessions Judge and Additional Sessions Judge, Thane, was against Salaya Nojir Shaikh (44) and Tajmira Begum Shohid Gazi (26).

The case originated on December 30, 2024, when the Shil-Daighar Police received a tip-off about illegal residency in a rented apartment at Khan Compound, prompting an investigation that led to the arrests and subsequent prosecution.
