Non-bailable Warrant Against Azharuddin

New Delhi, Mar 1 (IANS): A Delhi court Thursday issued a non-bailable warrant against former Indian cricket captain-turned-MP Mohammed Azharuddin after he failed to appear in person before a court in a dud cheque case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Vikrant Vaid issued the warrant against Azharuddin even as his counsel moved an exemption application Thursday on the ground that he was busy campaigning for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

"The exemption application is dismissed," the court said while directing Azharuddin to appear in person March 7.

Earlier, the Delhi court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him for not appearing in court on the day of the final verdict in the case, a lawyer said.

According to complainant Sanjay Solanki, he helped Azharuddin purchase property in Bandra in Mumbai for Rs.1.5 crore. As per the agreement to sell and purchase, Azhar agreed to pay double the initial amount of Rs.1.5 crore if the deal fell through due to his failure to comply with the terms.

When the deal did not mature, Azhar refused to pay double the amount, the complainant's counsel Gurvinder Singh Talwar said. Azhar issued two cheques of amount Rs.1.5 crore twice to the complainant, which were dishonoured, he said.

Azhar during the framing of charges claimed innocence and told the court that he did not know the complainant personally and met him for the first time in court.

He added that he made the payment to the person who had set the deal as the agreement, carrying the MP's Delhi address, was made by another person. "That person told me that he had paid the money to Solanki," Azhar told the court July 21, 2011.

Asharuddin you are the most corrupt cricketer of all times. You did so many blunders like match fixing and now you post a check which was not honored. It is a shame. Now you are campaigning in UP do loot more people over there. You should be relaxing in your house after serving your jail term. This is a curse from your faithful first wife. Anyway enjoy your life in jail unless someone influential will bail you out as you made ample money through your illegal business.

Highlights of Match - Cheque Bounce

    Bowler - Sanjay Solanki
    Batsman - Azhar
    Fielders - Lawyers

Sanjay to Azhar, FOUR, 143.6 kph, he's shredded Sanjay. Absolute battering this now. This is almost the perfect yorker, it tails in and hurtles towards the toes. Azhars's bat comes down decisively, taking advantage of his wristy flick. Four through fine leg. Sanjay has lost the match!

reading about him I think it's time that our BCCI enters into a 'performance contract' with it's players. Also a clause
somewhere that they are representing India and nobody else!
Talking about Azhar sad to read about him and what has befallen
him ! Undoubtedly one of India's finest fielders and stylish batsmen he let greed overtake him to be run-out! He had no option left but to join politics which is the last resort of ..........1
Azza how could you be like this?

Person who was thrown out of indian cricket team for match fixing, found joining Congress is the better option to continue with his cheating case. And the Party which is very corrupt and involved with lot of corruption also welcomes these type of criminals.
this is the ultimate result when Criminal Joins a Corrupt Party.

There is no question of AZAR feigning innocence.Law will take it's own course and AZAR is not exception. But the deal like this is not uted what it should be and there might be some missing clauses which may brought to public by court.
