Sullia: Illegal timber transportation intercepted; lorry and logs seized

Sullia, Feb 21: Personnel of the Mangaluru forest mobile squad intercepted a lorry illegally transporting timber at Bandi Majalu on the Bellare-Sonangeri road and seized the vehicle along with the wooden logs.

Acting on a tip-off, the forest mobile squad conducted a raid and took the lorry and the timber into custody.

The total value of the seized property is estimated to be approximately Rs 8 lac. A case has been registered against an individual identified as Madan M.

The operation was carried out by range forest officer Santosh Rai, deputy range forest officers Prashanth Poojary and Somanath, and staff member Jayaprakash.

Under the guidance of Roshini AJ, deputy conservator of forests, Mangaluru forest mobile squad, assistant conservator of forests Praveen Kumar Shetty is conducting further investigation into the case.
