Colombo, Feb 21: The Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup gets underway on Feb 21, with New Zealand national cricket team taking on Pakistan national cricket team in the opening clash at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The highly anticipated encounter will set the tone for the second phase of the tournament, where teams start afresh with zero points and no net run rate carried forward from the group stage.

Meanwhile, India national cricket team will kick off their Super 8 campaign against South Africa national cricket team at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Feb 22.

Super 8 groups

Group 1: India, Zimbabwe, West Indies, South Africa

Group 2: Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, New Zealand

Each team will play the other three sides in their group, with the top two from each group advancing to the knockout semi-finals.

Earlier, the group stage concluded with Australia national cricket team registering a dominant nine-wicket win over Oman national cricket team at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Chasing a modest 105-run target, Australia sealed victory in just 9.4 overs after bundling Oman out for 104 in 16.2 overs. Adam Zampa starred with the ball, claiming four wickets to earn the Player of the Match award.

With the Super 8 now underway, the race to the semi-finals promises intense competition among the remaining eight teams.
