Milagres College organises B Com IV semester SEP curriculum workshop with MUCTA support

Mangaluru, Feb 21: A workshop on the B Com IV semester SEP (Skill Enhancement Programme) curriculum was organised on February 21, at Milagres College in collaboration with the Mangalore University Commerce and Taxation Association (MUCTA).

The programme was inaugurated by watering a plant sapling by the principal, Dr Alwin Serrao. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the relevance of the revised curriculum and stressed the importance of quality teaching. He emphasised that practical classes should be strengthened rather than focusing excessively on theory, as this would make students more active and engaged. He further noted that, in today’s competitive era, the responsibility of shaping proactive learners’ rests largely with teachers.

Parallel sessions were later conducted on the IV semester B Com subjects, where faculty members from various colleges served as resource persons and deliberated on syllabus topics. The sessions were handled as follows:

• Cost and management – II: Prof Hyderali and Prof Harish Nayak

• Corporate accounting – II: Dr Nayana (Government First Grade College, Kaup) and Sandhya (Government First Grade College, Uppinangady)

• Direct taxes – II: Dr Ravi M N and Sandeep K Basrur

• Human resource development – II: Anasuya (Canara College, Mangaluru) and Dr Sona (MSRS College, Shirva)

• Finance – II: Dr Roshni Yashwant (Government First Grade College, Kaup) and Naveen Acharya (Government First Grade College, Beltangady)

• Marketing – II: Dr Lokesh (Government First Grade College, Haleyangady) and Dr Hariprasad (Government First Grade College, Uppinangady)

• Accounting – II: Prashanth Allison (MAPS College) and Lavina (Canara College)

• Skill enhancement – PBL: Manoj Louis (Government First Grade College, Karkala) and Gangadhara (Government First Grade Women’s College, Balmatta)

Among those present on the dais were Dr Udaya Shetty K, secretary, MUCTA; Sahana Shetty, joint secretary, MUCTA; Shobhitha T S, treasurer, MUCTA; and Chethana Kumari, IQAC coordinator of Milagres College.

Dr Ravi M N, president of MUCTA, delivered the welcome address. Dr Asha Jyothi, head of the department of commerce at Milagres College, explained the objectives and significance of the workshop. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Udaya Shetty K, secretary, MUCTA.
