Mangaluru: Yenepoya Dental College conducts road safety awareness programme

Mangaluru, March 6: A road safety awareness programme was organized at Yenepoya Dental College in association with the Indian Dental Association – Dakshina Kannada branch to promote awareness about responsible road behaviour and the importance of traffic safety.

The programme was inaugurated by Najma Farooqi, assistant commissioner of police, traffic sub division, Mangaluru city, who attended the event as the chief guest. In her keynote address, she highlighted the growing concern of road traffic accidents and emphasized the importance of strictly following traffic rules. She spoke about the need to wear helmets, use seat belts, and avoid distractions while driving. She also encouraged students and healthcare professionals to actively participate in spreading awareness about road safety.

The program was presided over by Dr Laxmikanth Chatra, principal of Yenepoya Dental College. Also present on the dais were Dr Sham S Bhat, dean, faculty of dentistry; Dr Jagadish Chandra, president, Indian Dental Association – Dakshina Kannada branch; and Dr Imran Pasha, vice president, Indian Dental Association – Dakshina Kannada branch.

The programme witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, reflecting the institution’s commitment to promoting road safety awareness and responsible citizenship.
