Daijiworld Media Network - London

London, Mar 6: Wizz Air’s UK unit has received the necessary permits to operate flights between the United Kingdom and the United States, the budget airline announced on Friday.

The airline said the approval will allow it to launch charter services aimed primarily at transporting European football teams and supporters travelling to the United States for this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

According to the company, the charter flights are expected to cater to the increased travel demand from football fans and teams during the tournament period.

The development marks a strategic move by Wizz Air to expand its transatlantic charter operations while tapping into the surge in sports-related travel linked to the upcoming global football event.
