San Diego, Mar 8: Two Indian nationals have been taken into custody by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in San Diego over their alleged criminal histories, officials said.

According to the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) office in San Diego, an Indian national identified as Jaskaran Singh was arrested due to his criminal background, which includes a hit-and-run case.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, ERO San Diego said Singh had a final order of removal.

“ICE San Diego arrested Jaskaran Singh, a criminal alien from India with a final order of removal. Singh’s criminal history includes hit and run. He will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings,” the office said.

The development comes a day after another Indian national, Jashanpreet Singh, was also taken into custody by immigration authorities in San Diego.

Officials said Jashanpreet Singh’s criminal record includes charges such as threatening a crime with intent to terrorise, assault with a deadly weapon, and driving under the influence (DUI).

Authorities said he will remain in ICE custody while removal proceedings continue. These legal proceedings determine whether a non-citizen will be deported from the United States.
