Gurugram, Mar 9: A 30-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with acid by her live-in partner inside a hospital in Gurugram late on Sunday night, police said.

According to officials, the accused followed the woman to Gurugram Civil Hospital after earlier assaulting her and later threw acid on her before fleeing the scene.

In her statement to the police, the woman said her live-in partner, identified as Pawan, attacked her and ran away after the incident.

Police said the victim, a resident of Nuh district in Haryana, had come to visit her aunt at Subhash Nagar on Sunday.

The accused, who is also from Nuh, reportedly followed her to Gurugram and insisted that she meet him. The two allegedly had an argument on Sunday evening during which the man assaulted her.

After sustaining injuries in the assault, the woman was taken by her family members to the hospital in Sector 10 for treatment, according to Press Trust of India.

At around 8.30 pm, the accused allegedly reached the hospital, threw acid on the woman and fled from the spot.

Gurugram Police later arrested the accused and also detained another woman for further investigation. Police said further inquiry into the incident is underway.
