Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) marks International Women’s Day with 'Give to Gain' theme

Mangaluru, Mar 9: Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) celebrated International Women’s Day on March 9 at the Yendurance Zone, organized by the Gender Sensitization Cell. The programme was conducted under the theme 'Give to Gain'.

The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr K S Gangadhar Somayaji, vice chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University). In his address, he emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment and the significant role women play in building a progressive society.

The guest of honour, Zaibunnisa, senior civil judge and member secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Dakshina Kannada, delivered an insightful talk on the legal provisions and rights available for women. She encouraged women to be aware of their rights and to utilize legal support systems whenever necessary.

The programme was presided over by Dr Leena K C, convener and president of the programme, who highlighted the objectives of celebrating Women’s Day and the importance of gender equality in academic institutions. Dr Gladys Colaco, secretary of the Gender Sensitization Cell, was also present on the occasion. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mahima, faculty from Allied Health Sciences. The vote of thanks was delivered by Fathima, faculty from the Pharmacy College.

On this occasion, Mamatha J Shetty was recognized and honoured as the 'Good Employee' for her dedicated service.

Around 300 participants, including faculty members and students, attended the programme.
