Mangaluru, Mar 9: St Agnes CBSE School celebrated International Women’s Day with profound enthusiasm and reverence under the inspiring theme, “Empowered Women Uplift the World.”

The programme was gracefully compered by Vidhatri V Rao and Aron D’Souza of grade 6 D, who steered the event with confidence, clarity, and poise. The celebration commenced with a solemn prayer service, invoking god’s abundant blessings upon women and girls everywhere and reaffirming the timeless values of equality, dignity, justice, and compassion.

The cultural segment unfolded with a vibrant and graceful welcome dance that filled the atmosphere with joy and festive spirit. This was followed by the welcome speech, in which Joella warmly introduced the esteemed chief guest, Tr Madhura, highlighting her dedicated service as a Hindi and EVS teacher and her commendable accomplishment of completing the junior and senior grade examinations in Bharatanatyam. As a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and respect, a potted plant symbolising growth, resilience, and grace was presented to the chief guest by the vice principal, Sr Meena Fernandes AC.

The programme further progressed with an enlightening address on the significance of Women’s Day, emphasising the importance of empowering every girl to dream fearlessly and achieve confidently. The audience was enthralled by a powerful dance on women empowerment, the meaningful skit “Wings to Fly,” and the inspiring dance drama “She Rises in Every Role,” each beautifully portraying the strength, perseverance, and multifaceted roles of women in society.

Adding further pride to the occasion, the winners of the Table Tennis Tournament were honoured during the celebration. Ashwin Kumar Padukone, founder of the Padukone Table Tennis Centre for Excellence, graciously presented the trophies and certificates to the deserving winners and runners-up amidst resounding applause. The prize distribution ceremony acknowledged the students’ dedication, perseverance, and exemplary sporting spirit, beautifully blending the celebration of achievement with the spirit of empowerment.

The celebration reached its pinnacle with the motivating address of the chief guest, who eloquently reminded the gathering that Women’s Day is not merely a celebration but a powerful call to uphold respect and equality. She emphasised that every girl has the right to dream, grow, and realize her fullest potential, and that empowerment begins with education, confidence, and self-belief. Encouraging students to respect and value the women in their lives, she urged every girl to remain determined, independent, and fearless in pursuing her aspirations.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Arvin of grade 2 A, who expressed sincere gratitude to all who contributed to the grand success of the programme.
