US eases sanctions on Russian oil amid rising prices during Iran conflict

Daijiworld Media Network - Washington

Washington, Mar 13: The US Treasury Department announced measures to further ease sanctions on Russian crude oil, as global oil prices surge amid the ongoing conflict in Iran.

The department said it will issue a license allowing the delivery and sale of certain sanctioned Russian crude oil and petroleum products for the next month.

Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump indicated that additional actions would be taken to relax restrictions on sanctioned oil, aiming to offset supply losses caused by the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The move comes as oil markets remain volatile due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
