Surat, Mar 13: A shocking family crime came to light in Surat when 55-year-old Hamida Khatun was allegedly murdered by her son Parvez, daughter-in-law Shabana, and Shabana’s father Firoz Alam over objections to an illicit relationship and financial disputes. The Surat Crime Branch solved the case within hours of the body being discovered.
According to police, Parvez was in a secret relationship with Shabana, who is married to his elder brother. The illicit relationship, combined with repeated disputes over money, created constant tension at home. Hamida Khatun reportedly opposed the relationship, prompting the accused trio to allegedly conspire to eliminate her.
On March 10, Hamida was allegedly strangled to death inside her home. Her body was hidden for a day and later dumped near a temple in a plastic sack. Parvez reportedly filed a missing complaint about his mother at the local police station, claiming she had gone to the market.
Surat Crime Branch DCP Bhavesh Rozia stated that the body was discovered on March 11 around 11 am, with hands and legs tied, confirming the murder. Investigations led to family involvement, as a rope similar to the one used on the victim was found at the family home, and contradictions in statements of Parvez and Shabana raised suspicion.
Following interrogation, both Parvez and Shabana confessed to the crime. Firoz Alam fled to Bihar but was later captured at Patna Railway Station with assistance from the Bihar Special Task Force. CCTV footage showed Firoz carrying the body in a white sack while disposing of it, which police described as crucial evidence.
Police revealed that Parvez is unmarried and the family lived together in a joint household. Hamida Khatun had also allegedly been in a relationship with Firoz Alam, contributing to disputes within the household.
All three accused have been taken into custody, and legal proceedings are underway. Authorities noted that the son and daughter-in-law showed no visible remorse following their arrest.
