Mumbai, Mar 14: A 44-year-old doctor working in the ENT department of Jagjivanram Railway Hospital near Mumbai Central was found dead inside her cabin, police said.

The deceased, identified as Dr Anuja Kulkarni, had several surgeries scheduled at the hospital on Wednesday. When she failed to arrive for the procedures, her colleagues attempted to reach her on her mobile phone but received no response.

Concerned about her absence, a junior doctor went to Kulkarni’s cabin and knocked on the door but got no reply. Looking through the glass panel, the doctor noticed her lying on the floor near a chair.

Hospital staff and senior officials were immediately alerted, following which doctors examined her and declared her dead at the scene.

Police from Nagpada Police Station reached the hospital and began an inquiry into the incident.

The body was later sent to Sir JJ Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have registered an accidental death report and further investigation is underway.
