Rohit Monserrate poised for second term as Panaji mayor

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Mar 14: Following MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate’s panel retaining control of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), his son Rohit Monserrate is expected to continue as mayor for a second consecutive term.

Rohit, the first mayor in Panaji’s history to complete a full term, had joined electoral politics in the previous CCP elections and was immediately appointed mayor. During his tenure, while he retained the mayoral position for five years, the deputy mayor was changed twice under his leadership.

Although Monserrate stated that the party will formally decide the new mayor, political insiders indicate that Rohit is likely to be reappointed for another term, maintaining continuity in the city administration.
