Udupi, Mar 17: Glowinstar Integrated School officially inaugurated the Cricket Sports Academy on March 15 in the school playground. The event marked a significant step towards promoting sports culture and encouraging students to actively participate in physical activities along with their academic pursuits.

The programme began with a warm welcome address by the principal, Dr T J Quadros. In his address, he emphasized the importance of playgrounds in schools, stating that they play a vital role in the overall development of students. He highlighted that sports help students build discipline, teamwork, leadership qualities, and physical fitness, which are essential for a balanced and healthy life.

The chief guest for the occasion was Samuel Jayaraj, an experienced cricket coach and the first coach of K L Rahul. In his inspiring speech, he spoke about the importance of sports in school life and encouraged students to cultivate dedication, perseverance, and a sporting spirit. He also shared a few motivating thoughts from his coaching experience, inspiring young students to pursue their dreams with determination.

The guests of honour for the programme were Dr Nelson Pinto and Dr Gregory D’Sa. Dr Nelson Pinto, a renowned sports orthopedic surgeon, addressed the students and motivated them to actively engage in sports while maintaining good physical health and fitness.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by a symbolic cricket moment when the chief guest, Samuel Jayaraj, took the first batting stance while Dr Nelson Pinto delivered the first ball, officially launching the Cricket Sports Academy. The football court was also inaugurated during the program, with Dr Nelson Pinto taking the ceremonial first penalty shot.

The programme was gracefully compered by Neethew Fernandes. The event concluded on a pleasant note with refreshments served to the audience, leaving everyone inspired and enthusiastic about the growth of sports activities in the school.
