Mangaluru, Mar 17: A press meet in city on Tuesday, March 17 took a dramatic turn as Beluvai resident Prafulla Naik accused her sister, Sumathi Naik, of attempting to defame Moodbidri police inspector Sandesh P G over a personal family dispute.
Addressing reporters at the Press Club, Prafulla Naik alleged that her sister, driven by personal enmity, has been making false accusations against inspector Sandesh P G, whom she described as an honest officer trying to resolve issues within their family.

Prafulla further made serious allegations against Sumathi Naik, claiming her involvement in alleged illegal activities, including prostitution cases reported in places such as Karkala, Beltangady, and even Tamil Nadu, where she allegedly served a jail term. She also accused her sister of forging their mother’s signature in an attempt to seize ancestral property.
Narrating a recent incident, Prafulla said she had approached the Moodbidri police station to file a complaint against her husband. Police officials reportedly contacted her husband and asked him to appear at the station. According to her, when her husband and sister arrived, Sumathi allegedly created a scene, verbally abused police personnel, and physically assaulted Prafulla using footwear. She also claimed that Sumathi attempted to attack police officers in public before being restrained.
Prafulla alleged that after the incident, Sumathi fabricated a counter-narrative accusing the police of assault and admitted herself to a hospital in Udupi to support her claims.
She also stated that a case had been registered against Sumathi Naik at Madiwala police station in Bengaluru for alleged involvement in prostitution. According to her, a police raid at a residence in BTM Layout’s KAS Colony led to the arrest of Sumathi along with an associate identified as Karthikeyan for allegedly soliciting customers.
Reiterating her support for inspector Sandesh P G, Prafulla claimed that the officer’s attempt to mediate their family dispute had triggered the alleged conspiracy to malign him.
State president of Suvarna Rajya Samiti Varthur Manjunath and member Harish were also present at the press conference.
