Mangaluru: Renowned jurist justice N Santosh Hegde to inaugurate UHV Cell at YIASCM

Mangaluru, Mar 19: The Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM), a premier constituent unit of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), is set to host a significant academic event with the inauguration of the Universal Human Values (UHV) Cell (AICTE) on March 23, 2026, at the YMK Auditorium, Kulur Campus.

The event will be headlined by Justice N Santosh Hegde, former judge of the Supreme Court of India, who will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Widely respected for his contributions to the judiciary and public life, he has also served as the solicitor general of India and Lokayukta of Karnataka. His presence is expected to bring national prominence to the event and inspire the academic community with his insights on ethics, integrity, and good governance.

YIASCM has steadily emerged as a dynamic centre for higher education, offering multidisciplinary programmes in Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management. Known for its focus on academic excellence, skill development, and holistic learning, the institution actively promotes value-based education aligned with national educational priorities.

The establishment of the UHV Cell at YIASCM reflects its commitment to integrating universal human values into the curriculum and campus culture. The initiative, guided by AICTE, aims to nurture ethically responsible, socially conscious, and emotionally balanced individuals through structured programmes, workshops, and faculty development initiatives.

The programme will also be graced by R Upendra Shetty, chairman, Universal Group of Institutions, as guest of honour, and will be presided over by Dr Shripathi Rao, pro vice chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University).

The event will witness the presence of academic leaders including Prof Jeevan Raj, principal (I/C), YIASCM; Prof. Shareena P, dean and vice principal; and Narayan Sukumar A, vice principal.

The programme is being coordinated by Dr Shalini Sequeira, head, Department of Linguistic Studies, and Dr Deekshitha Prashanth, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Through this initiative, YIASCM continues to reinforce its vision of shaping responsible citizens by blending knowledge, skills, and values, thereby contributing to a more ethical and sustainable society.
