Dehradun: One killed, three injured after speeding SUV rams multiple vehicles

Dehradun, Mar 20: One person was killed and three others sustained injuries after a speeding SUV rammed multiple vehicles in the Dalanwala area of Dehradun on Wednesday evening, police said.

The incident occurred around 7:30 pm when a Toyota Innova, driven by 43-year-old Guneet Singh, a resident of Inder Road, was allegedly being driven at high speed and in a rash manner.

According to police, the SUV first hit a car on DL Road, causing damage, before speeding ahead and colliding with a scooty and a motorcycle.

Three persons were seriously injured in the crash, identified as Rahul from Ambedkar Nagar, and Rohit Phillips (48) along with his 22-year-old son Anuj Phillips from Old Survey Road.

Rahul was initially taken to Vaish Nursing Home and later referred to Max Hospital for further treatment. Rohit and Anuj were rushed to Doon Hospital.

Rohit Phillips later succumbed to his injuries during treatment, officials confirmed.

After the collisions, the SUV also hit a parked motorcycle and scooty before veering towards Old Survey Road. It then crashed through the gate of a house and entered the premises, damaging another scooty and a car inside.

Police have seized the vehicle and taken the driver into custody. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
