Puttur, Mar 20: In a tragic incident arising out of a marital dispute, a woman was killed and her husband later attempted suicide at Golthila near Kattatharu in Ariyadka village of Puttur taluk on Friday March 20.

The deceased has been identified as Savithri (42), a native of Kumaramangala. The accused husband has been identified as Purushottama alias Bairappa, a resident of Emetti.

Preliminary information suggests that a heated argument between the couple turned violent, during which the husband allegedly killed his wife. Following the incident, he attempted suicide and was immediately shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru in a critical condition, sources said.

Upon receiving information, Puttur Rural police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The body has been taken into custody and further procedures have been initiated. Investigation into the exact cause and background of the incident is in progress.
