Kundapur, Mar 24: A 35-year-old mason died after being electrocuted while working at a house under construction on Kadgimane Road in Kundapur on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Shivaraj (35), son of Mutha-Ganga couple, a resident of Santavar near Moodlakatte. Shivaraj was unmarried and had been working as a mason for the past 15 years.

On Monday, Shivaraj along with a couple of co-workers had come for plastering work at a house under construction belonging to Praveen Kharvi at the end of Kadgimane Road. While shifting an iron ladder along with two other workers, it accidentally came into contact with a live electric wire passing behind the house, resulting in an electric shock.

Shivaraj collapsed and was immediately rushed to the Kundapur Government Hospital, but he had already succumbed by then. The two other workers escaped without life-threatening injuries.

Kundapur Town police PSI Pushpa and staff visited the spot and gathered information.

A case has been registered at the Kundapur police station based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother.
