Nitish Kumar re-elected JD(U) chief for fifth straight term

Patna, Mar 24: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been re-elected as the national president of Janata Dal (United) for a fifth consecutive term.

The election was held on Tuesday, March 24, where Kumar was elected unopposed as no other candidate filed nominations for the post. The party had set a deadline of 2.30 pm for withdrawal of nominations, and with no challengers in the fray, his continuation as president was confirmed.

According to the party, national election officer Aneel Prasad Hegde was set to issue the official certificate of election to Kumar later in the day.

Kumar’s re-election comes just days after he was elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha.

Several senior party leaders, including working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, and Bihar minister Shravan Kumar, are expected to be present during the formal announcement.
